The paper was The Daily Mirror. Its date the 8th July 1913. It had been hidden in our roof for exactly 97 years.

The main story was about The Empires gift of £3500 to Peter Scott the small son of the great explorer Scott of the Antarctic

Up goes the scaffolding

It's the 21st of June and after a long wait we're under way.I am surprised to find it's going to take a week to put up the scaffolding. The week progresses steadily with deliveries every day.
I thought by Wednesday evening the work was almost finished.I just hadn't appreciated the complexity of the temporary roof. The scaffolders made it look so easy as they moved with such confidence over the structure as it grew.I could hardly watch as they raised the cross members that were to hold the metal roof.
